José Luís Nunes Cabral opens Padaria Pazurara in the small village of Vila Mendo, Portugal, laying the foundation for a family-run bakery built on passion and tradition.
Alongside his wife, Maria Ascensão Dionísio Cabral, José welcomes four daughters—each born within the bakery itself, surrounded by the warmth of fresh bread and family love.
With his family in tow, Jose migrated to Pittsfield,
Massachusetts where he began working for Pittsfield Rye Company almost immediately.
On Palm Sunday, the family opens International Bakery in Danbury, Connecticut—a name that would become a symbol of Portuguese baking excellence in the community.
“Jose Teixeira” begins working at the bakery, where he meets his
future wife, “Ana Paula Cabral Teixeira”
After battling with Colon Cancer, Jose Cabral succumbs to
the illness. At the ages of 24 and 20 respectively, Joe and Paula take control of the business.
Joe and Paula give birth to their two boys, Jeffrey & Shawn Teixeira.
